Gan, Jetty

The main Gan jetty extended to the edge of the lagoon reef and was in constant use when supply ships arrived at the Addu Atoll.  Only smaller freighters could moor directly at the end of the jetty to off-load.  Larger ones had to transfer their cargos to landing craft or barges, which then took the goods to the jetty for off loading and distribution.  This picture clearly shows the Marine Craft Unit Buildings as well as some of their boats moored offshore in the lagoon.
